I was raised in a home where "feminism" was derided. I'm now 52 and passionately feminist, but needed this movie to really hammer home the reality of what Ruth and others fought for. It also graphically depicted the social reality that women in my family willingly accepted.

More than that, this film did what good film making should do: through RBG's story, I am inspired by her determination and bravery. I felt loved and supported as I watched her husband Marty love and support her.
The film reawakened me from an oppressive fog and I am now more aware of continued inequity and injustice. It renewed my fighting spirit.
For those who derided the movie as being a politically motivated story, I challenge you on this. Like other reviewers, I see this as a story about RBG's incredible life and her personal battle and bravery is incredibly inspiring.
This movie was very much an America story that would appeal to political nerds who are interested in the career of the diminutive Supreme Court judge Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
Much was good, the central acting of Felicity Jones held our attention, Armie Hammer gave a nuanced performance that struck the right balance between husband and promoter. Sam Waterston role as the controlling Dean of Faculty was memorable, but after all he is always great in everything he does.
What was not so good, after a promising start the movie flagged in the middle coinciding with the introduction of her courtroom adversaries, it all become over technical, and unlike The Post with Meryl Streep last year, it did not rise above its subject matter and became as dry as dust.
The music sometimes seemed like we were marching on Rome rather than dealing with the minutiae of legalities over tax concessions for carers in the home.
Lastly, whilst clearly a wholesome champion of the right and the truth for metropolitan liberals throughout Mrs Ginsberg was portrayed as ponderous, didactic, overbearing and lacking in any humour. I have heard her in real life and she is funny, believe me!
I would add on a personal note that it was incredulous to believe that Felicity Jones so punching above her weight would land the sex-on-a-stick man that is the Apollonian god Armie Hammer.
